During a trip through South Africa, I saw how the dead earth, in just a few days after the first rains, transformed into an explosion of green and color. Curious monkeys swung playfully around us. And then, in the park, there he was — the lion. Nothing has ever touched me so deeply during my travels.
That energy, those colors, that feeling of wild and free — that is what I wanted to capture. Layer by layer, I painted this story onto ceramics. Every lion, every monkey, every detail applied by hand. No two lamps are the same, just as no two days in Africa are the same.
